MANUSCRIPT WITHDRAWAL POLICY

Purpose

Plover and Page is committed to publishing high-quality research while upholding strict publication ethics. Authors are expected to adhere to best practices in research integrity and article quality. Occasionally, authors request to withdraw manuscripts either before or after publication. To prevent unnecessary delays and ensure fairness to editors, reviewers, and the editorial staff, this policy outlines the conditions and procedures for manuscript withdrawal.

Author Responsibilities Before Submission

  1. Authorship and Approval: All authors, including the corresponding author, confirm the number of authors, authorship order, and integrity of the manuscript. Any disagreements among authors must be resolved prior to submission.
  2. Supervisor Permission: Research students or junior researchers must obtain prior approval from their supervisors before submission.
  3. Ethical Compliance: The manuscript adheres to publication ethics as described in the journal’s Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement, in accordance with COPE guidelines (https://publicationethics.org).
  4. Originality and Prior Submission: The manuscript must not be under consideration elsewhere and must be withdrawn from any previous publisher. Withdrawing a manuscript simply because it has been accepted elsewhere is unacceptable.
  5. Accuracy: All data and statements in the manuscript must be verified as accurate and error-free.
  6. Author Agreement: All authors must agree to publish the article in the specific journal prior to submission.

Unethical Withdrawal

  • Withdrawal requests during the advanced stages of the editorial process or after peer review completion are unacceptable, except for compelling and unavoidable reasons.
  • Manuscripts cannot be withdrawn after acceptance or during production (e.g., Galley Proof stages).
  • Withdrawal after acceptance or publication will incur a full publication charge penalty of USD 350, which covers costs normally sponsored by donors.

Permissible Withdrawal

  • Withdrawal is allowed without penalty if requested during the peer review process.
  • Withdrawal is allowed without penalty if the manuscript has been under review for more than six months.
  • Withdrawal requests after peer review, during production, or post-publication require payment of the full publication charge (USD 350) as a withdrawal penalty.

Withdrawal Procedure

  1. Authors must submit an “Article Withdrawal Form” signed by all authors, stating the reasons for withdrawal. The form is available from the journal’s Editorial Office.
  2. Withdrawal requests are not effective until the Editorial Office confirms receipt and, if applicable, payment of the withdrawal penalty.
  3. If authors fail to respond to editorial communications after multiple reminders, Plover and Page reserves the right to take necessary actions, including disclosing author conduct and manuscript content, without further author consent.
